The volunteers at the North East Land Sea and Air Museum have created several collections in one museum.
The North East Aircraft Museum has a diverse collection of aircraft; from passnger aircraft to training planes and a mighty Vulcan.
The Military Vehicle Museum has a collection of smaller vehicles from the armed forces such as trucks and armoured personnel carriers.
A recreated street scene from the 'home front' during World War Two helps to tell the story of life in Britain during 1939-1945.
A display dedicated to local Royal Air Force Squadron, 607 (County of Durham) Squadron has also been created.
All of these collections can be viewed on normal opening days.
The North East Electric Traction Trust is also based on site, their collection of vintage trams and a trolleybus can be viewed on selected dates and during special events.
The North East Land Sea and Air Museum also hosts a wide variety of special events, from transport heritage days to science-fiction themed activities.
