Legally Blonde the Musical set to return to Sunderland Empire
The new tour of Legally Blonde The Musical is set to hit Sunderland Empire for one week only from Monday 16 – Saturday 21 April 2018.
The smash hit Broadway and West End Musical, tells the story of Delta Nu Sorority Sister Elle Woods who loves to be pampered and is very passionate about pink. But when Elle is dumped by her boyfriend Warner Huntingdon III for a more serious girlfriend she puts down the credit cards and picks up the books!
Packing up her trusty pooch, Bruiser, she bags herself a place at the prestigious Harvard Law School to try and win Warner back. This all singing, all dancing romantic comedy is about knowing who you are and with the support of her new friends she learns that you can be both smart and fashionable.
Based on the best loved movie, this new tour of Legally Blonde The Musical will feature Rita Simons as Paulette with further casting to be announced. Rita is best known for playing Roxy Mitchell in BBC's Eastenders and is one of Britain’s best loved TV actresses.
She won Most Popular Newcomer at the National Television Awards and other awards and nominations include Best Newcomer at the Digital Spy Soap Awards, Best Onscreen Partnership for her character partnership with Ronnie Mitchell played by Samantha Womack, Best Newcomer at the TV Now awards, a nomination for Best Newcomer at the 2008 British Soap Awards and Best Newcomer at the 2008 Inside Soap Awards. Rita continues her role as Roxy in one of the nation's most loved continuing dramas, and has also appeared in Mile High as Hannah, Dream Team as Julie and London's Burning.

Perhaps Sunderland's most prominent landmark is Penshaw Monument. It was built in 1844 in honour of the first Earl of Durham, John George Lambton. Penshaw was modelled on Theseion, the Temple of Thesus in Athens.
