The Active Sunderland BIG Walk

Sunday, September 30, 2018

Entries are now being taken for this year's Active Sunderland BIG Walk which takes place on Sunday 30 September.
This event is a wonderful way to be active with family and friends while taking in some of the best scenery and countryside the city has to offer.

Participants have the choice between 3 routes, of three, seven, and eleven miles, each beginning and ending at the amphitheatre in Herrington Country Park.

The three mile route is ideal for beginners, families or those with mobility issues and involves an optional scavenger hunt trail around International Green Flag award-winning Herrington Country Park.

Both the seven and eleven mile routes take in the beautiful Wear Valley behind Penshaw Monument. Walkers keeping a keen eye open may be able to spot an assortment of wildlife including Sparrowhawk, Bullfinch, Grey Squirrel and even Otter!

The BIG Walk will start at 10am on Sunday 30 September at Herrington Country Park. Entries are now open online and the £10.00 entry fee includes a technical tee-shirt, Active Sunderland medal and a goody bag.
