The run takes place from 1.30pm and is open to children aged 3 – 7 if they are accompanied by an adult, and children aged 8 – 10 who can run it by themselves.

The event is part of the ‘Run Weekend’ which incorporates the city’s half marathon and 10K runs.

With a focus on leisure, recreational and family cycling, the Sunderland BIG Bike Ride offers FOUR alternative rides, providing a route to suit all ages and abilities.

The 5 mile family ride will take place at the wonderful Herrington Country Park on Saturday 13 June, and the longer 14 mile, 20 mile and 35 mile routes will take place on Sunday 14 June, starting and finishing at St Peter’s Riverside.

14, 20 and 35 mile rides take place on the city’s expansive cycle network and some roads. Due to the varying surfaces en route, road bikes are not recommended.
