Christmas at Arts Centre Washington is packed full of theatre, music and dancing!

Helen Green Creative Director of Arts Centre Washington is sure that Christmas will be a little bit special at Arts Centre Washington this year... and it looks like it may well be.

This year’s Christmas show is an adaptation of the children’s book ‘I’ve Seen Santa’ by David Bedford. This delightful show comes to life with an irresistible blend of music, puppetry and high energy storytelling. There’s plenty of fun along the way, with a very special appearance from Santa himself! Suitable for 3 to 7 year olds it runs from Tuesday 9 to Saturday 13 December

The Christmas Craft Fair is on Saturday 6 December, jam-packed with festive stalls this is the perfect place to pick up an unusual hand crafted gift or decoration or delicious treats for the Christmas table.

The City Of Sunderland Youth Jazz presents a special evening of Christmas classics performed by some of the most talented young musicians in the city on Thursday 4 December.

Why not combine you visit with a fantastic three course Christmas dinner with all the trimmings at the centre’s award winning Courtyard Café / Bar.

The end of 2014 is marked with a New Year’s Eve Monster Ceilidh Bash!  Celebrate New Year’s Eve is and enjoy a night of dancing and great food and drink. Providing the music will be the high energy, fun loving Monster Ceilidh Band.

In 2015 Washington Theatre Group will be performing their popular annual pantomime, this year it will be Snow White.

Helen Green, Creative Director at Arts Centre Washington has said;

“Christmas is our favourite time of year here at Arts Centre Washington!  We are delighted to welcome back Blunderbuss Theatre who are performing our Christmas show ’I’ve Seen Santa’ especially as they were so well received by packed houses for their production of Hugless Douglas here last month.

“This will be the fourth year that the Monster Ceilidh Band has counted down to New Years with us and every time the event has been a sell-out, including this year!

“The Christmas Craft Fair is always a regular feature of our Christmas celebrations and is the perfect opportunity to buy something unique as a present made by one of the extremely talented local crafts people. Our resident community choir the B#’s will also be in attendance entertaining shoppers with Christmas Carols.

“Why not support Sunderland’s young musicians and check out the City of Sunderland Youth Jazz Orchestra, they will be getting us all in the festive mood with an evening of Christmas music and song!”
