Fifth season for Plays in the Park

Fifth season for Plays in the Park

A season of classical plays is coming to some of Sunderland’s best loved parks for the fifth year running.

Roker Park, Mowbray Park and Barnes Park will each play host to theatre performances in July and August. The season is the work of award-winning Theatre Space North East which will perform The Taming of the Shrew, Romeo and Juliet plus George and the Dragon.

Shakespeare classic Romeo and Juliet comes to Roker Park from Thursday July 14 to Sunday July 17. More information.

Family friendly action with George and the Dragon will take on Mowbray Park on Saturday July 30 and Sunday July 31. More information.

Hilarious Shakespeare classic The Taming of the Shrew will entertain Barnes Park from Thursday August 25 to Sunday August 28. More information.

Performances in previous years have earned rave reviews from theatre goers for both the quality of acting and the innovative use of the outdoor spaces.

All of the performances are ‘pay what you like’, with a suggested donation of £10 per person.
