What's on this half term in Sunderland

It's February, it's half term and the question 'where can we take the kids' is in the air.

Sunderland has plenty of things to see and do to keep the kids occupied. From family activities, including, ‘Puddle Jumping Championships’ and a great selection of 'Leonardo’ inspired events at the Museum and Winter Gardens to sitting back and being entertained at the Arts Centre Washington with ‘Thief, Fox and Phoenix’, to getting sporty and healthy at the 'Big Sports Festival' at the Beacon of Light.  Of course if the weather is fine it's nice to get out and about in our beautiful parks; feed the ducks, have a walk, ride a bike, let the kids play in the play parks and just relax.

Below are just some of the events on this half term and you can find more in 'What's on'.

  • Puddle Jumping Championships - Grab your wellies, get outside and join in at WWT Washington for their 2019 Puddle Jumping Championships.  Great fun whatever the weather!
  • Leonardo Code Cracker Trail - Follow the special themed trail this half term to find Museum treasures with a connection to Leonardo da Vinci’s drawings. Will you be able to crack the code to solve the puzzle and claim a prize?.
  • Thief, Fox and Phoenix - Follow the tale of a mischievous thief who, along with a furry fox friend, go on a quest to find the enchanted phoenix.
  • Birds Eye Views - Make a giant map of Wearside inspired by Leonardo da Vinci’s maps of Italy. You will make your own memory maps featuring some of your favourite places to take home.
  • Big Sports Festival - BIG Indoor Community Sports Festival at the Beacon of Light.  From Table tennis to Big feet football there's fun for all of the family!
  • Portraits and Poses - Dress up like a Renaissance character from Leonardo da Vinci’s time and take a selfie, then draw your own and your family’s portraits. If you post your Leonardo selfie online make sure to use the hashtags #Leonardo500 #SunderlandLeo
