Although library venues may have had to close their doors in response to the Covid-19 outbreak Sunderland Libraries Services continue to offer a wide range of digital services for all ages, to reduce feelings of isolation during the current crisis and escape without having to leave the house!

Accessible from computers, tablets, iPads and smartphones, the free offers range from e-books, e- audio books for all ages, family history and academic subjects to interactive nursery apps and storytelling to download for young children. There is something for everyone to enjoy, whatever your taste.

 Librarystaff are continuing to develop new and exciting initiatives to expand this service by adding new titles of e-books that are currently on primary school reading lists to help with home learning.

You can browse, select and read or listen to books by your favourite author or choose a much loved literary classic whenever or wherever you are.

Get the latest on celebrity lockdown with a virtual copy of Hello magazine or indulge your hobbies with publications covering topics such as food and drink, health, gardening and many more or how about delving into your ancestors past by accessing Find My Past to open over 4 billion historical records and start building that family tree you always planned to.

Sunderland Libraries Services Facebook and twitter accounts, provide regular updates and signpost users to useful and informative websites to help families and people of all ages and abilities to avoid social isolation such as Reading Bingo for Children, Bookstart activities and links to other cultural sites.

Libraries Services are pleased to announce a NEW Click and Collect service is due to be launched where Library customers can select the books they want to borrow from the online catalogue and they will be made available to collect back in, the library takeaway!
