St Peter's Medieval Festival

St Peter's Medieval Festival
Saturday, June 27, 2015 to Sunday, June 28, 2015

Living history group Regia Anglorum will turn St Peter's Church grounds into a tented living history encampment.

See the past brought back to life, with hands on displays of clothes, crafts, cooking, armour and weapons of the medieval period.

Learn how the Anglo-Saxons lived and worked, slept and ate, watch warriors training and see them take on the Vikings in battle - at 2pm on both days.

Plus a longboat, guided tours of the 7th century church and more.

Next door at the National Glass Centre, join in by painting your own Viking Goblet. Just drop in between 10.30am and 3pm. Suitable for ages 6 and over.

Find out more about Viking Raiders returning to Monkwearmouth.

Don’t miss -

10am: Warriors at training

1pm: Fashion show of Viking and Anglo-Saxon style

2pm: Battle - Vikings raid the Anglo-Saxon village, taking captives. A rescuing Anglo-Saxon army confronts the pillaging Vikings, and a battle ensues.

3pm: Warriors practice at javelins

Guided tours of the church all day – just pop in.
