Join local astronomers for two fun nights of assorted astronomical treats at the Cygnus Observatory at WWT Washington Wetlands Centre!

Powerful telescopes will be available to unveil; the Moon, the mighty planet Jupiter and its four largest moons, the amazing stellar nursery, the Orion Nebula (M42), gorgeous star clusters such as “The Seven Sisters” and “The Beehive” clusters and many other wonders of the night sky."

The event is suitable for all ages and no experience is necessary. There will also be interactive presentations and workshops with Q&A. Astronomy related videos and demonstrations

Expertise, information and advice will be on hand from local astronomers.

For the young ones there will be an astronomy related craft area with plenty to do.

All you have to do is bring suitable clothing for weather and your curiosity.

Did you know?

Perhaps Sunderland's most prominent landmark is Penshaw Monument. It was built in 1844 in honour of the first Earl of Durham, John George Lambton. Penshaw was modelled on Theseion, the Temple of Thesus in Athens.
