The City Council aims to provide the highest standards of security and customer care for car park users in Sunderland, with many of the car parks in the city centre having attained 'Safer Parking' status.
There are over 3000 parking spaces in the city centre, so getting parked shouldn't be a problem.

Perhaps Sunderland's most prominent landmark is Penshaw Monument. It was built in 1844 in honour of the first Earl of Durham, John George Lambton. Penshaw was modelled on Theseion, the Temple of Thesus in Athens.
