Sunderland's good central location enables visitors to travel around the region hassle free; in 30 minutes you can visit the historic Durham City and its magnificent cathedral and castle, or see the cultural delights of The Sage Gateshead and acclaimed art exhibitions at BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art.

A short drive away is Beamish Open Air Museum, one of the UK's most popular attractions. This open air museum features recreations of a 19th and early 20th century farm, colliery and village, including trams and steam engines.
