Youth Arts Exhibition 2015

Youth Arts Exhibition 2015
Friday, January 30, 2015 to Saturday, March 28, 2015

Established in 2000, the Sunderland Youth Arts Exhibition has become an integral part of the Sunderland Young Achievers' Awards diary.

The first Youth Arts Exhibition took place in February 2000 as part of celebrations for the 50th anniversary of town twinning between Sunderland and Essen and was so successful it became a regular date in the Young Achievers' Awards diary.

Supported by local businesses including SunFM, Nissan, Foundation of Light, Sunderland Students' Union, The R&B Group, Gentoo Group, Arts Centre Washington and Sunderland City Governors' Association the exhibition promotes the most talented and creative young people living in our city.

Entries for the exhibition were sought from young people in the 11-14 years and 15-20 years age range.

Five winners from each group were selected by an independent judging panel. All winners are invited to the Sunderland Young Achievers' Awards ceremony in March where they will each receive a Young Achiever's award. Every entrant will receive a certificate.

The exhibition is hosted by Arts Centre Washington and will run from 30 January through to 28 March 2015.

To find out more about how to enter go to Arts Centre Washington.

Perhaps Sunderland's most prominent landmark is Penshaw Monument. It was built in 1844 in honour of the first Earl of Durham, John George Lambton. Penshaw was modelled on Theseion, the Temple of Thesus in Athens.
